Aga – the original recycled product

At Aga we realise how important it is to recycle. In fact, since the very first Aga was made more than 70 years ago 70% of each Aga has been made from previously used material. Car gearboxes, guttering, old machinery, cookers, door fittings, drain covers, lamp-posts and much more can all be found in the world’s most famous cooker.

The Aga is renowned for its longevity; it keeps cooking for years. That’s why some people say an Aga lasts a lifetime. And Aga owners can become really quite competitive about the age of their cookers. Typically, people buy three or four cookers during their lifetime, whereas you only need one Aga.

The longevity of the Aga is of real benefit to the environment and, in today’s disposable culture, it’s difficult to think of another product that will give so many years of faultless service. Unlike other types of cooker, Agas are almost completely recyclable. The old Agas can be melted down and made into new ones.  You’ll probably never find an Aga in a landfill site.

Aga is committed to environmental and ethical projects. Every Aga is made in England – in an historic foundry that is a United Nations-designated World Heritage Site – by people committed to quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail. Staff at the foundry have a real pride in the cookers they produce and it’s not uncommon for three generations of a family to happily work side by side at the Coalbrookdale foundry.
